With Term 4 wrapping up and the school holidays fast approaching, we’ve mapped out the very best activities which can be enjoyed with the whole family this summer.
Head into the city via the train from the brand new Rockbank Station Station or stay local and enjoy everything Melbourne’s West has to offer these summer holidays with a few fun ideas below!
NGV FOR KIDS
Let your little one’s creativity flourish with a multitude of creative experiences at the National Gallery of Victoria. The NGV engages children and young people in the visual arts and with cultures from all over the world. From 11-19 January kids can enjoy hands-on activities, creative workshops and performances at the annual NGV Kids Summer Festival.
Have you visited the NGV’s latest exhibition by pop-culture-inspired New York artist KAWS? For a limited time, there’s also a free KAWS: Playtime Exhibition created just for kids.
A little closer to home, Frontier Park and Recreation Reserve is always a winner during school holidays. With the weather finally warm enough to splash around, water play in Frontier Park runs from 8am – 8pm seven days a week. The system runs on a cycle, so if the water isn’t running when you arrive please be patient.
KIDS TENNIS DAY
Kids Tennis Day is back on 18 January as part of The Australian Open 2020. Watch, cheer and play your way through a fun-filled day. This year’s Australian Open precinct will be packed with a variety of family-friendly activities. All future champions (kids) get in for $5 with adults $10 on Saturday 18 Jan 8:30am – 4:00pm.
Who needs to go to the beach when you can splash in the shallows or ride the waves right here in Melbourne’s west? Surfs up this summer, the wave pool creates crashing waves for a few minutes every 30 minutes or so. Splash out on a visit to Melton Waves — the only leisure centre in Melbourne’s West. There’s seven swimming pools in total including a 50-metre outdoor swimming pool; 25-metre indoor swimming pool; a spa; toddler pool and warm water swimming pool.
